IT Systems Administrator

Job Description

The IT Systems Administrator role is a combined role to ensure the streamlined operation of the IT Department, in support of our game development teams. The candidate will be responsible for supporting and maintaining our existing servers and network equipment in both our downtown Chicago and Baltimore locations. Research, propose and implement new solutions to reduce cost, increase efficiency or both. The position will also provide Tier 3 support for our desktop environment. Proactively monitor our network and systems to ensure maximum availability.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Deploy, maintain and monitor our Cisco network devices ensuring peak performance and maximum uptime.
  • Deploy, maintain and provide support for all server hardware and software, including VMWare vSphere, Windows Server and CentOS.
  • Research, rip apart and report back on the latest and greatest technologies. Show us how we can be bigger, better, faster and more efficient...and what it will cost.
  • Reach across the aisle to our IT staff in other locations, ensuring we’re all working together for the greater good
  • Keep us safe, secure and backed up.
  • Mentor less experienced staff.

 

Skills/Requirements:

  • 3 - 5 years experience installing and maintaining Cisco switches, routers, firewalls and access points.
  • 3 - 5 years experience installing and maintaining Windows Server systems including Active Directory, file/print and SQL.
  • 3 -5 years experience installing and maintaing Linux systems - RedHat/CentOS preferred.
  • Server hardware setup and configuration on HP DL and BL series servers and c7000 series chassis.
  • VMWare ESX / ESXi configuration and management.
  • EMC SAN configuration and management.
  • Current network hardware, protocols, and standards.
  • Data management, backup and security technologies. Data privacy practices and laws.
  • Database technologies (e.g. MS-SQL, Oracle, MySQL).
  • Patch and Vulnerability management practices for Windows Server and Linux systems.
  • Capacity and disaster planning.
  • Perforce experience a plus!

  • Effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment, using your analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Research IT issues and new products, perform general mathematical calculations for the purpose of creating business cases. (abacus permitted).
