GoKiawah Camp Counselor

Kiawah Island is located just south of Charleston, South Carolina. When you come to Kiawah, you’ll know if it’s right for you the moment you set foot on the Island. The Kiawah Island Club delivers a diverse collection of private amenities in distinctive venues. Amid uncommon scenic beauty, Members can savor the Island’s best offerings and create lifelong memories with family and friends. 

The Kiawah Island Club is seeking enthusiastic and energetic individuals for the role of GoKiawah Camp Counselor.  The GoKiawah department creates and executes youth, adult, and family programming for members and guests of the Kiawah Island Club. This position assists with coordinating daily family and youth activities while building relationships with program participants in a safe and fun environment. This position is for June 1 - August 12

Duties will consist of:

  • Responsible for promoting a safe and fun environment for participants ages 3-16, to include, but not limited to the following:
  • Check in/checkout of children
  • Teaching arts & crafts, playing sports and implementing appropriate games
  • Ability to work in the sun and swim with children in the pool
  • Assist in planning and implementing daily recreational Club activities
  • Possess full knowledge of GoKiawah youth programing itinerary and ability to communicate information to others
  • Promotion of GoKiawah programming within the Kiawah Island Club
  • Assist other Club departments with general operations
  • Ensure cleanliness of program areas and storing of equipment and supplies each day

 

Skills & Requirements

Qualification/ Requirements needed include:

  • Regular attendance is essential to the successful performance of this position and averages 20-40 hours per week. *Unless otherwise indicated*
  • Flexibility in schedule and able to work during the July 4th holiday week/weekend
  • Must have valid driver’s license and is responsible for own transportation to and from various job sites
  • Educational and/or hands on experience in recreation, education or child development preferable
  • Ability to take initiative, make sound decisions, and trouble shoot problematic situations in an independent manner is required
  • Great with children and good athletic skills are a plus
  • Most work tasks that are primarily performed outdoors, must be able to work outdoors for the entirety of your shift
  • Ability to lift more than 25 lbs. occasionally. Ability to squat, stoop and bend frequently
