Job Description

The Warewasher is responsible for maintaining and properly sanitizing Kitchen and food counter facilities at Pier Sixty, Lighthouse and Sports Center Café in accordance with Abigail Kirsch standards of quality.  This is achieved by using proper methods for washing flatware, proper storage of kitchen equipment, pots and pans, seeping scrubbing and mopping floors in and out of food production areas and the proper and safe use and application of dishwashing machines and chemicals.   
 

Essential Job Functions:

 

  • Properly stack and prepare glassware, flatware, china, hollowware and kitchen small wares for cleaning.
  • Operate the dish machine or clean by hand flatware, glassware, china, hollowware, kitchen small wares and heavy equipment.-Set up and break down and clean the dish machines.
  • Properly store flatware, glassware, china, hollowware, kitchen small wares and heavy equipment.
  • Assist in moving and distributing glassware, flatware, hollowware and china as directed by an immediate supervisor or as directed by requisition form.
  • Clean and maintain work areas.
  • Remove all garbage and refuge following proper disposal procedures.
  • Mop, sweep and squeegee floors in kitchen and Sports Center Café area, clear out and sanitize floor drains.
  • Wash all walls and ceiling tiles including those inside and outside refrigerators.
  • Sanitize surfaces including countertops and cooking equipment.
  • Follow proper storage methods for chemicals.
  • Assist in the transport of perishable and non-perishable assets between facilities and other locations.
  • Maintain clear and safe work environment by clearing up spills throughout the facility and keeping walkways and workspaces clear of obstructions.
  • Assist Culinary Department with plate out during sit-down dinners and assist with set up and preparation of coffee for events and with set up of family-meal.
  • Travel, as necessary, to different properties/venues.
  • Perform all reasonable requests by the management team.
  • Attend and participate in all scheduled meetings and training sessions.
  • Follow proper time keeping policies and procedures
  • Follow the sign in and out procedure for keys.
  • Know and follow all Abigail Kirsch/ Pier Sixty emergency and safety procedures.

 

Skills & Requirements

  • Minimum 6 mos. experience in foodservice operation.
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any   other combination of education training or experience that provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities.      
  • Ability to orally communicate and understand conversational English.  Ability to read and understand Basic English.
  • Ability to lift in excess of 50 pounds by hand and more than 50 pounds with the assistance of other associates or through the use of a handcart, push cart or dolly.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to withstand temperatures in excess of 105 degrees while working in the dish machine area.
  • Ability to work with chemicals including but not limited to pot soap, bleach, multipurpose cleaner, oven cleaner and sanitizer.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with associates management, clients and vendors if necessary.
  • Able to work flexible schedule in order to accommodate business levels.
