Job Description
Position Title: Director of National Accounts

Location: Remote (in United States)

Position Summary:

Join a rapidly growing and market leading manufacturer as the Director of National Accounts.  The Director of National Accounts is responsible for expanding the Company's presence in new and existing accounts.  This role will have a high focus on new business development and is a critical driver of activities to help generate revenue and profit.  They will increase Company’s  brand value through the development of relationships with National and Regional partners with over 100 doors and will be responsible for establishing and achieving year over year growth targets. They will deliver the sales and profit results needed to achieve company goals, while building the foundation for long term leadership in the market.  This position will be responsible for existing customers and new business development outside those accounts.  They will maintain the interface between SVP, inside sales, product management and service.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop business plan congruent with Company’’s sales strategy with an emphasis on new business generation.

  • Generate new opportunity leads by cold calling, attending trade shows/networking events, and following up on marketing leads

  • Act as advocate for the customer during the development of solutions; work with internal cross functional teams to develop pricing and proposals, review proposals with clients and advise decision making process, as well as  monitoring progress during launch, assuring timely and desired results

  • Meet sales objectives with existing accounts and drive new business with those clients and/or identify areas of improvement to meet sales goals

  • Lead point of contact for all customer account management matters

  • Build and maintain strong, long lasting client relationships

  • Negotiate contracts and close agreements to maximize profits

  • Develop trusted advisor relationships with key accounts, customer stakeholders and executives.

  • Ensure the timely and successful delivery of solutions according to the customer needs and objectives.

  • Clearly communicate the progress of monthly/quarterly initiatives to internal leadership.

  • Forecast and track key accounts

  • Prepare reports on account status

  • Assist with challenging client requests/issue escalations as needed.  

  • Attain comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Company product line categories, technologies and related applications as well as competitors

  • Relationship development and regular call frequency to targeted client base.

  • Participation and active engagement in strategic planning and marketplace development objectives

  • Maintain aggressive travel schedule (70%+ travel required)

  • Develop, manage and maintain travel and entertainment/selling budget

  • Understand and enforce corporate sales policy

  • Conflict management and resolution

  • Provide Company with fact and data based new product development opportunities through marketplace and customer base interaction

Skills/Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field

  • Food industry experience either in food manufacturing or food service or processing equipment

  • Willingness to travel 70% to meet with customers and prospect for new business

  • Solid national accounts, account management and new business development experience

  • High level of business acumen to help drive revenue and profit goals

  • Demonstrated successful work experience and leadership track record, and/or possesses a clear aptitude to negotiate, persuade, sell and lead

  • Time management and self-motivation

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills required

  • Strategic planning

  • Budgeting and sales projections

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications required

  • Perform multiple activities and meet deadlines

  • CRM experience

  • Public speaking and presentation skills required
