Job Description

 

Our new event space, The Shed, is looking for a receiver to join our team!

 

This role is responsible for the daily receiving operations which includes the receiving of all deliveries, quality control and commissary storage organization within the guidelines of DOH and HACCP standards set for receiving and food storage. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for receiving, accepting or rejecting, and stocking of all food and beverage deliveries.
  • Responsible for maintaining all storage spaces in an orderly and organized fashion.
  • Stocks the bar and catering storage spaces according to FIFO.
  • Accountable for the overall quality of all food items delivered to the kitchen.
  • Receives products accurately, taking temperature and weighing (as necessary) upon receipt of product.
  • Exercises quality control procedures and communicate any issues with the Operations Manager and culinary teams at The Shed
  • Works within the guidelines to ensure DOH and HACCP compliance as it pertains to the operation.
  • Assists the operations department in maintaining organization of the storage rooms for kitchen and cleaning supplies as well as general orderliness of basement.
  • Responsible for receiving, cleaning, and stocking of bar, kitchen, and catering uniforms.
  • Arrives on time and in the proper uniform on a daily basis.
  • Possesses a general knowledge of food safety and sanitation.
  • Shows a high level of motivation and hunger to learn.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Shows an ability to communicate with team members as well as management.




Skills/Requirements

Technical:

Basic Computer Skills (Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, CaterXpert preferred)

Language:

English

Spanish (preferred)

Experience:

1+ years of experience in receiving (preferred)

Working knowledge of food ingredients

 

Certifications:

NYC Food Handlers certificate

Work Environment:

Must be able to maneuver to all areas of the kitchen, including food and beverage areas.

Requires mobility, prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and reaching.

Able to lift 60 pounds

Able to work consistently in a refrigerated area for at least 3 hours at time.

Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.

Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

Must be able to tolerate varying levels of stress, temperature, illumination, air quality and fatigue.
