Founded by CEO Danny Meyer with the opening of Union Square Cafe in 1985, Union Square Hospitality Group has created some of New York’s most beloved restaurants, cafes, and bars such as Gramercy Tavern, Maialino, The Modern, Marta and Porchlight to name a few!


The Talent Manager leads specific initiatives to advance our culture, with a specific emphasis on recruiting, hiring, onboarding and welcoming new employees. This position will be responsible for training our hiring managers on how to hire values-aligned top talent in addition to ensuring an onboarding process that sets our new team members up for success.

Key Responsibilities:

Implement a consistent and strong hiring process to attract and hire values-aligned top talent who will advance our culture

  • Lead and continue to enhance our USHG-wide employee referral program and track its impact with metrics
  • Lead our summer internship program in a way that builds USHG ambassadors and potential future employees
  • Builds and curates relationships with organizations to support us in sourcing more diverse talent

Implement a consistent and strong process in all of our businesses to ensure that our new hires experience a warm welcome that represents a memorable moment of hospitality and sets them up technically and culturally for success at USHG

  • Partner with the People Operations Managers to review existing onboarding and welcoming approaches and define the core and common elements that are best practices for USHG while allowing enough room for local customization
  • Partner with our business leaders to ensure consistency of application of the standard welcoming plans
  • Conduct and analyze surveys at 30, 60 and 90 days for our new hires and ensure that our leaders are using this data to support in strengthening their welcoming processes

Create and implement systems that support our people in growing their careers at USHG

  • Communicate, promote and continue to evaluate our internal transfer/promotion process support both business needs and employee growth needs
  • Compile and analyze employee exit survey and turnover data monthly and make recommendations to leaders to improve retention
  • Lead the communication to our people on our peoples’ stories of growth and open positions for which they can apply
  • Support in delivering the Nurturing Growth programs

  • Bachelor’s Degree or commiserate experience
  • 5+ years of recruiting experience in the hospitality industry
  • Demonstrated experience leading searches and successfully placing applicants for various position levels
  • English fluency and Spanish preferred
