Founded by CEO Danny Meyer with the opening of Union Square Cafe in 1985, Union Square Hospitality Group has created some of New York’s most beloved restaurants, cafes, and bars such as Gramercy Tavern, Maialino, The Modern, Marta, Manhatta, Daily Provisions and Porchlight to name a few!

The Manager of Learning & Engagement manages the administration of "The Square" USHG's LMS for training and communication platform to support organizational goals.  This position is also responsible for the administrative aspects of in-person training classes and reporting key follow-up data.  This individual is accountable for organizing online and in-person content and engagement to ensure the delivery of USHG's learning curriculum, the "Manager Mise," and programs in a manner which drives superior hospitality and excellence as well as builds a high performance team.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the administrative delivery of “the Square” content

  • Act as the administrative expert of Wisetail and ensure all content is up to date and reflective of USHG Training and Engagement Priorities and Calendar
  • Work with Sr Manager L&D to identify business-specific content needs
  • Work with Sr Manager L&D to develop & update business-specific content with supporting engagement tools
  • Work with Sr Manager L&D, Business Leadership & People Operations Managers to introduce “the Square” to the broader employee population
  • Work with Director of Human Resources and Associate Legal Counsel to maintain up to date content relating to current policies, guidebook, benefits, compliance, and SOPs
  • Coach and train leaders to navigate “The Square” and maximize its utility as a “Manager Mise” and an LMS
  • Oversee and implement eventual build out of business specific sites

Oversee the administrative delivery of the USHG Learning and Development Curriculum

  • Communication, administration, scheduling and execution of New Leader Orientation & New Hire Orientation
  • Communication, administration and scheduling of quarterly class curriculum and reporting on attendance
  • Partner with New Business Leaders to incorporate and schedule cultural training for new business openings
  • Work with Sr Manager, Learning & Development to develop and post new USHG learning content with supporting flashcards, quizzes, tools, videos and other learning opportunities
  • Oversee the system administration and evolution of Wisetail as a tool to support in delivering online learning
  • Collaborate with Content manager to deliver video content to support the training curriculum on Wisetail
  • Develop and administer “YouSHG and Free University” to support our employees with external training & resources

Monitor and report online and in-person training and engagement metrics

  • Coach and train leaders to navigate "The Square" and maximize its utility as "Manager Mise" and an LMS
  • Monitor lesson plans, training materials and associated documents for conformity with new training requirements and to keep online content correct and up to date
  • Monitor engagement, use and established training KPIs and report metrics to key stakeholders
  • Monitor team member activity, to make sure user contributions, comments, and questions receive timely replies, and that all content is aligned with USHG Family Values and code of conduct
  • Work with leaders, People Operations Managers, Talent Manager and Training Manager to identify any additional training needs or support based on “The Square” Engagement
  • Build the incentive structure to ensure all businesses take part, with diverse representation and participation 

Qualifications:

  • Must be familiar with SCORM (Articulate/Articulate Storyline preferred)
  • Must have 1-2 years of training or education experience
  • Must have experience with eLearning authoring tools (Articulate preferred) and administering an LMS
  • Exceptional communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Strong organization skills, critical problem solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage complex assignments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Intermediate skills using design tools such as Photoshop preferred
