Job Description

Job Summary:

The employee will facilitate the introduction to and implementation of Lean Manufacturing practices, Six Sigma problem solving through continuous improvement projects.  Major duties will include identifying cost savings, process improvement opportunities, development and analysis of performance metric, provide training for and facilitating team building and problem solving and standardization of manufacturing processes; with the objective of improving process capability, manufacturing cost and reducing waste in the operation.

Position Description:

  • Facilitates the understanding and use of Lean and Six Sigma practices at all levels of the operation through training, coaching, team oriented problem solving, participates in Kaizen events and troubleshooting the process.  This involves understanding of the tools and concepts and following the DMAIC and PDCA principles, to effectively transfer knowledge to users in the facility.
  • Develops lean strategies, identifies improvement opportunities and drives improvement projects to completion. 
  • Implements control plans, initiates changes to work instructions, develop metrics, develops and performs audits- to ensure sustainability of improvements made in the processes.
  • Being an effective facilitator, leader and coach.
  • Develops and provides project updates as required.
  • Compares results of CI projects with the budgeted cost savings and assures that any needed corrective actions are being taken.
  • Researches equipment as needed.
  • Participates in physical inventories and safety audits.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the CI Manager or Plant Manager.

Skills/Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. Degree- preferable in Engineering
  • Six Sigma green belt or equivalent training
  • Knowledge and experience in Lean manufacturing and Continuous Improvement practices
  • Sufficient skills and experience required for developing manufacturing and quality standards
  • Communication skills sufficient to provide training and coaching in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement
