Position Overview

The Commission Analyst will work cross functionally with Sales Operations, Commissions, FP&A and management. It is a hands on position and will play an important role in modeling and testing commission plans end to end.

This position requires the ability to work independently within established parameters while providing timely and thorough communication with departmental and cross-functional teams. The successful candidate is expected to ensure compliance with all Skillsoft policies and procedures.


Position Responsibilities

Reporting and Analysis: Will work with Sales management and corporate counterparts to ensure all relevant data for performance measuring is captured quickly, efficiently and accurately as it relates to sales compensation. Will aid finance in developing a sales compensation model to track CCOS, which consists of cost modeling, commission expense estimates, commission accrual methodology, special incentives and cost of exceptions. Will work closely with sales to understand their needs and how communication of sales performance is best articulated. Responsible for maintenance and updates to the commission web reporting system. Responsible for developing and delivering reporting that tracks individual and team sales performance monthly, quarterly and annually.

Demonstrate a strong understanding of corporate and sales policies.

Work directly with the Sales Operations team and Sales management to understand commission plan design and structure, including the mechanics and motivational aspects of the company sales strategy and the impact.

Review and analyze the commission model from sales operations, including validating accuracy as well as providing sensitivity analysis and potential exposure points.

Work with the FP&A team in ensuring that sales compensation is properly forecasted. Work with Commission team to answer questions regarding components in the commission plan along with implementation of the plans.

Work with Sales Operations and FP&A to test Spiff program assumptions to ensure they are in line with budget.

Participate in implementing new commission software.

Participate in implementing ASC 606 commission expense rules.

Desired Skills and Experience

Ability to interact and work effectively at all levels across the organization is required. Must be self-motivated, proactive in nature, and able to balance priorities and execute in a fast paced environment. Need to exhibit strong system savvy, attention to detail, and exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written. Must exhibit good follow up and have the ability to defend commission policies, procedures and payments to employees and management. Problem solving and trouble-shooting skills is a must. Ability to multi task and prioritize workload.

Advanced Excel skills needed for modeling compensation plans. This can include using data from multiple sources in multiple formats. Compiling and calculating sales compensation, accruals, and expense using both actuals and forecasted data.

Minimum of 5 -7 years of related experience

Experience with Xactly Preferred

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook)
