Job Description

Role Summary:  This position’s primary responsibility is to review production requirements generated by customer requirements and to create and maintain production orders necessary to fulfill these requirements.  This position is responsible for the creation and distribution of daily casting production schedules.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates scheduling activities between G.O. Operations Planning and plant personnel.
  • Reviews planned orders and creates and distributes daily casting schedules.  Reviews production and mold schedules prior to distribution.
  • Audits and reconciles casting and packaging orders and confirmations.
  • Closes and reconciles casting exception orders.
  • Deletes unnecessary orders or technically complete irreconcilable orders.
  • Monitors plant web daily.
  • Maintains visibility to check the progress of material as it flows through the different confirmation points and makes any needed adjustments.
  • Determines if additional production is required to fulfill sales order requirements.
  • Will have visibility to finished goods inventory to determine if material is available from finished goods and does not require production.  Determines if available, unassigned material could be downgraded and applied to specific sales orders.
  • Supervises the scheduling at the plant and insures that product is available to meet schedules for customers’ requested shipment date.
  • Communicates with the General Office Operations Planning Department on sales order backlog, prospective sales orders and any problems that may be encountered with furnishing products according to the schedule.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.




Skills/Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • The position requires knowledge of U. S. Pipe’s product line obtained from training and experience on other jobs in the Shipping, Quality Control and/or Packaging Departments. 
  • Proficiency with SAP Production Planning, achieved through formal or on-the-job training during the performance of other roles, is required to satisfactorily perform the job.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Must have five years of experience with production and scheduling procedures. 

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • The employee will be working in an office environment but will do some walking through the plant (from time to time) exposing the employee to foundry operations.  The employee will be exposed (very briefly) to the following working conditions: extreme heat and cold, noise, vibration, oils, and atmospheric conditions such as dust, fumes, and metallic particles.
  • The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting.  The majority of the actions will be sitting.
