Job Description

Role Summary:

 Provide technical support to melting and casting departments, assist in product quality initiatives and manages product development projects and conducts metallurgical studies and analyses in support of company product development and quality assurance activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the pipe manufacturing and fabrication functions as needed.  This could include process control, process improvement, melting, casting, heat treating, finishing, lining, coating, welding, internal auditing, etc. 
  • Failure analysis investigation and reporting of pipe related failures and production equipment.
  • Participate and eventually lead on-going corrosion related studies.  This would include: preparation of samples/coupons for and the monitoring of testing including salt fog, chemical resistance, corrosion resistance, and erosion; data collection and analysis for the US Pipe corrosion studies in the Everglades; data collection and analysis for the combined DIPRA studies (Everglades, Hughes, Bay County, Spanish Fort); and conducting electrochemical laboratory corrosion studies.




Skills/Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint software.  Previous SAP knowledge is a plus.
  • Knowledge of basic applications of metal processing and the associated process/quality controls.
  • Ductile iron experience and an interest in the application of corrosion control methods is preferred.
  • Candidate is expected to acquire NACE (National Assocation of Corrosion Engineers) basic certification within 2 years.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgical or Materials Science Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience preferred.

 

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Office, laboratory, and foundry/processing plant work environments.
  • Lifting of moderate loads, some exposure to heat and industrial plant environment.
  • Some overnight travel required.
