Job Description
Learning Designers are responsible for assuring the instructional integrity of Skillsoft Business Skills and Compliance courses throughout the IP Creation process. Learning Designers act as reviewers and coaches during the course planning and writing cycle and conduct reviews at critical development checkpoints to ensure adherence to and compliance with Skillsoft’s IP creation standards.

Job Responsibilities:
The Learning Designer, in collaboration with IP Creation and Content Management, oversees the completion of high quality deliverables in accordance with agreed schedules. This includes working with internal and external planning and writing teams to create individual course plans and scripts, as well as working with Content Management and internal or external SMEs to ensure instructional integrity and alignment between plans, scripts, and product vision. The role also includes reviewing and approving plans and scripts for handoff to the Production team; maintaining certification requirements for technical business skills products (e.g. PMBOK, ITIL); providing support for ongoing and future development in business technical certification areas; ensuring adherence to NASBA compliance requirements and maintaining records for compliance at the course level; and creating and maintaining planning and writing documentation for Business Skills and Compliance products. The ideal candidate is comfortable with a cross-functional approach to maintaining and improving course quality processes and procedures with internal and external teams and is able to contribute ideas for enhancements to course design and development processes, tools, strategies, etc. Participation in team meetings, workshops, and training sessions is expected, in addition to performing other duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned.

Job Requirements
• Undergraduate degree in Instructional Design, Education, or an equivalent combination of on-the-job training and experience
• Formal instructional design education, professional development or training program preferred, but not required; Masters Level degree in related field a major plus
• Minimum of two years professional experience in an editorial, review, or writing role, preferably related to ILT, WBT, or e-learning (designing, editing, writing, developing, etc.)
• Experience working with Business, Leadership and Professional Development, Interpersonal Skills, Technical Business Skills, Legal Compliance, and Environmental, Safety, and Health content highly desirable (designing, writing, journalism, instruction, editing)
• PC and MS Windows literate; browser savvy; working knowledge of ftp, zip, search engines, and other computer utilities and tools
• Experience working on virtual teams and/or with remote partners highly desirable
• Familiar with e-learning theories, concepts, and standards
• Experience working in a fast paced work environment highly beneficial
• High level of technical competence (ability to quickly and efficiently master proprietary and off-the-shelf systems, tools, and processes)

Skills Required:

• Ability to adhere to schedules, handle overlapping tasks and meet deadlines without sacrificing product quality
• Ability to actualize instructional design and learning principles into effective e-learning content
• Ability to think visually and express those visuals in words; familiarity with graphic design elements appropriate for e-learning
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as listening/observation skills
• Ability to work independently, as well as within teams
• Excellent organization skills with high attention to detail

Travel Limited National and International

Working Hours 40 hours per week and as needed
