Make a meaningful impact as a Service Director with Union Square Events!


The Service Director leads the Front of House Event Staff in the execution of service and hospitality for all off-premise events.  Responsible for the hiring, training, morale and professional development of all Captains, Servers, Bartenders, the Service Director establishes and maintains service standards and hospitality best practices.  As the leader of our Event Staff, the Service Director must embody USHG’s Family Values and be able to teach and coach USHG’s Culture, while ensuring compliance with labor and wage laws.  This position participates in pre-event planning in collaboration with the Sales Team, and is also at key events to support and evaluate service and hospitality on-site.

  • 5+ years' experience in Lead Captaining high profile events of all sizes and types
  • Strong understanding of Service and Operations as it pertains to Catering
  • Proficiency in all roles needed to manage an event including but not limited to: bussing, passing food, table service, expediting, bartending, and co-captaining
  • Strong understanding of off-premise event logistics and requirements
  • Strong understanding of varied and diverse cuisine and beverage
  • Excellent leadership, organizational management, and delegation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local wage and hour and labor laws
  • Understands and practices discretion and confidentiality
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Illustrator)
  • TIPS Certification
  • NYC Food Handler's Certification

Ideally you also have:

  • Experience with CaterXpert
