Are you a writer or editor with a keen interest in e-learning and instructional design? Would you like to join our team of Content Development Specialists, shaping our course content? Do you have an interest in accessibility, and ensuring that all learners are catered for, whatever their abilities?

The Content Development Specialist is a writer, an editor, a trainer and an accessibility expert in one. This varied role is best suited to someone who enjoys challenging themselves and others to improve their content and the quality of the instruction they produce.

Position Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities for this position are as follows:

• Provide support to internal and external stakeholder groups involved in content development
• Build a strong working knowledge of accessibility guidelines, such as WCAG 2.0, and understand their implications for content development
• Mentor content development teams, ensuring their knowledge and skills meet Skillsoft standards
• Manage or co-ordinate internal and virtual teams as required
• Ensure writing and development standards are applied consistently across all development teams
• Audit and report on adherence to accessibility guidelines in the development of courseware assets
• Conduct strategic reviews of accessibility assets in courseware, providing feedback for ongoing improvement to internal and external content development teams
• Demonstrate flexibility to take up tasks of writing and editing content as required, providing additional content creation support to the content development teams
• Create sample content to map to new content development strategies as required
• Critically review content, providing feedback for ongoing improvement
• Develop and deliver training for upskilling and content creation guidance where required
• Prepare and maintain accurate and up-to-date guidelines, content samples, manuals & process documentation


Desired Skills and Experience

• experience writing or editing content for regular production required (2+ years)
• experience creating video-based training or e-learning an advantage
• demonstrated working knowledge of accessibility standards highly advantageous
• experience with Confluence, Sharepoint, and other content management systems desired
• excellent editorial skills
• strong attention to detail essential
• ability to provide strong constructive feedback to writers and other developers
• understanding of instructional design standards and guidelines
• ability to work on own initiative when necessary
• expert user of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
• working knowledge of Excel for tracking and production purposes, desired but not required


Education and Certifications

Qualification in technical writing, instructional design, or education desirable
