This Internship is for the Chemical / Corrosion Functions of the Technology & Product Development Department(TPD). The position is for the day shift operating hours of TPD and may include some overnight travel. The applicant should expect to be exposed to an industrial environment and to learn the basics of metallographic sample preparation, corrosion coupon preparation, coatings, linings, and corrosion testing. The potential for future hiring of this type of person is good. The person could be used by the Quality, Melting, or Continuous Improvement functions as a process engineer.
Duties would include:

Monitoring ongoing testing including Salt Fog, salt batch, and erosion.

Aiding in the preparation of sample coupons for the above testing including cutting, grinding, and coating.

Aiding in the preparation of pipe samples for corrosion testing at the Everglades site. Moderate lifting may be required.

Supporting other TPD projects as needed. This could involve helping with product testing, metallurgical sample preparation, charpy verifications, etc.
