Union Square Hospitality Group is excited to announce our 2018 Summer Internship Program!
At USHG we offer a competitive intern program for students looking to learn more about front of house operations and / or the hospitality industry. We are offering one or more FOH Restaurant Internships per location within the following businesses: Gramercy Tavern, Blue Smoke Flatiron, Union Square Cafe, Whit Food, Marta, Maialino, The Cafes at MoMA, and The Modern. These internships will expose you to a variety of front of house, back of house, and management positions within the USHG business you are placed in to provide full exposure to the restaurant’s operation.
Our all-encompassing internship program is designed to promote a sense of empathy and understanding for every position and provides exposure to all facets of the operation or department. Our hope is that you will learn how important every role is in running a successful operation. A summer with USHG should provide you with a solid foundation of knowledge about our industry, and leave you feeling well informed to make decisions about where your path might lead on your journey to a career in hospitality. In addition to day to day duties, each intern will also be expected to complete a project over the course of the summer documenting the intern experience. All projects will be presented to the management team during the last week of the internship.
Opportunities and Requirements:
The USHG Intern Program begins on June 7th and ends on August 15th. Interns are required to be available through the duration of the program, commit to 32—40 hours per week (based on location), and must attend all scheduled events. Interns will be exposed to a variety of events throughout the program to provide exposure to various aspects of our business and allow for networking opportunity with both fellow interns and current USHG employees.
Additional Information:
Pay: All of our internships are paid positions. Interns are paid a flat rate of $13 per hour.
Housing: We know finding temporary housing in New York City can be tough so we have tried to make the search a bit easier. We work with Educational Housing Services and will work with those chosen for the program to find affordable housing options.
We take our internships very seriously, as they are the first impressions we can make on you: the future leaders of our industry. We hope you will have interest in our program, and invite you to ask any questions you may have. The goal of this internship program is to inspire and excite you to apply for a full time position with USHG upon completion of your degree.
