Duties and Responsibilities
A Data Center Admin II’s primary focus is to provide application and technical support using best practice solutions, develop process automation & standards, and facilitate deployment of application updates, implementations, modifications and upgrades. The DCA II should maintain and practice strict process-compliance that guarantees Data Integrity and Application Availability for all end-users.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· TECHNICAL DATA CENTER SUPPORT
o Analyze, Troubleshoot and Problem Solve Issues
o Maintain Process and Jobs/Scripts
o Ensure Application Availability 24X7
· APPLICATION SUPPORT
o 1St , 2nd, and 3rd Tier Application Support of various payroll applications
a) Payroll Application on Portal and Internet
b) Self-Service Internet Application
c) Fast Forward
d) SQL Databases
o Analyze, Troubleshoot and Problem Solve, may include programming changes
o Develop process automation and standards
o Maintain code-control and process-compliance
o Application Implementations, Upgrades and Data Conversions
· APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT
o Gather Requirements
o Design the Specifications
o Develop the Programs
o Test Application Modifications/Customizations
· EXECUTE AND PROCESS PAYRUNS FOR SMS CLIENTS
o Execute client payrolls using an application and/or scripted jobs, which include the following types:
§ Periodic, Quarter-End, Year-End, Adjustment and Clear payrolls.
o Execute other special payroll runs such as:
§ Bonus
§ Maintenance
§ Test/Parallels
o Execute other pay process related tasks that may include:
§ Pre-payroll processes
§ Post-payroll processes
o Verify input and output files including reporting and third-party interfaces
o Identify any abnormalities in an executed process
o Escalate issues as needed
· OTHER FUNCTIONS
o Security Officer responsibilities includes maintaining application user security.
o Periodically testing various Payroll applications
o Refreshing Application environments
o Restoring Files
o Daily verification of Job executions
o Code Control participation
SKILLS REQUIRED
· TECHNICAL SKILLS
o Windows and DOS navigation
o Windows and DOS batch scripting
o Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills
· SOFT SKILLS
o Strong communication skills
o Able to work Independently/Self-motivated
o Ability to Collaborate with other groups
o Understanding end-user needs is essential
o Delivery of Excellent Customer Service is essential
o Miscellaneous duties include daily issue updates and weekly status reports
PREFERRED SKILLS
· For maintaining/supporting and developing customizations on a payroll application
o COBOL
o ASSEMBLER or similar
o Mainframe navigation and JCL Scripting
o ActiveBatch application skills
· For maintaining/supporting and developing customizations on an Internet Self Service application
o Java, Java script, JSP, XML and SQL
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information System, or similar
· 5-7 years peexrience preferred
