General Manager to lead the Restaurant, Bar and Catering Operations

of GreenRiver in Chicago!

 

Danny Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group operates some of the country’s most beloved and celebrated restaurants, which offer outstanding food and beverage in unique environments, delivered with our signature warmth and hospitality. In addition to restaurants, UHSG operates catering and hospitality venues throughout the country. At GreenRiver, we proudly collaborate closely with our operating partner Northwestern Medical to bring the restaurant, bar and catering venue to life every day, and we are looking for a caring professional to lead the charge.  

The General Manager of GreenRiver is accountable for the operational and financial success of the business, which includes the restaurant, Annex bar, and catering operations. The General Manager ensures that people within various disciplines effectively collaborate as one cohesive team. General Manager responsibilities include:

Driving Service & Hospitality Standards: Ensure the excellence of the service and hospitality provided by the entire team

Guest Experience Management: Lead the management team and staff in providing a consistently outstanding guest experience

Client Relationship Management: Develop and nurture a strong relationship with our operating partners

Communications: Ensure that the entire team is informed of GreenRiver and USHG initiatives, strategically utilizing USHG resources to enhance operations

People Practices: Direct and supervise the HR practices of the business in order to maintain a top-notch, high performing team

Operations: Guide all unit departments in upholding the excellence and efficiency of the business operations

Profitability: Ensure the business delivers desired profitability by consistently finding ways to increase revenue and decrease costs without sacrificing the guest or employee experience

Community Investment: Engage business unit team with aligned community investment activities

Continuously build a high performance team: Actively teach, coach, inspire and develop employees in all positions





Skills/Requirements

This position is based full-time in Chicago, Ill. 

  •  2+ years in a General Manager role of a multi-faceted operation (e.g.: restaurant, catering, hotel)
  • Additional 3+ years of restaurant/catering management experience in addition to GM experience
  • Exhibits masterful leadership qualities that embody our Family Values
  • Excellent food and beverage knowledge, including wine, beer and spirits
  • Previous experience executing catered events
  • Proficient understanding of P&L management
  • Understanding restaurant POS systems
  • Ability to teach, lead and delegate
  • Ability to develop well thought-out proposals and execute action plans 
  • Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills
  • Ability to represent brand in a positive way in all types of client interactions
  • Capable of building and maintaining strong relationships; superior people skills
  • Strong computer skills/Microsoft Office
