Union Square Events is seeking a

Pastry Sous Chef

to join the team!

 

The Pastry Sous Chef is responsible for menu and recipe development for Union Square Events. This includes plated desserts, individual pastry, baked goods and high-volume pastry production. This individual is expected to develop an understanding of food cost and labor cost, and how these costs reflect in the daily production of their Pastry Cooks. The Pastry Sous Chef is to cultivate relationships with purveyors and understand ordering of products and inventory procedures. The Pastry Sous Chef will also be responsible, in partnership with the Executive Pastry Chef, to foster team spirit and relationships within the team in order to create comradery and a strong, positive, and supportive working environment. The Pastry Sous Chef will assist in overseeing the overall running of the kitchen, cleanliness, and organization.





Skills/Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years experience working in NYC restaurants
  • Prior management experience
  • Fine dining experience
  • Large-scale production experience
  • Chocolate
  • Viennoiserie and yeasted doughs
  • Ice cream production
  • Pastry production
  • Excel
  • Word

 

Certifications:

  • Culinary school preferred
