Job Description

Union Square Hospitality Group is seeking a General Manager to join the team at the Cafes at MoMA!


The General Manager works side-by-side with the Executive Chef and Director, to lead the daily operations of the Cafés at MoMA businesses – Café 2, Terrace 5, Staff Caff, Garden Bar, Espresso Bar and Art Food Catering.  They are accountable for the overall quality of hospitality, service, food and beverage and the financial health of the businesses that they oversee.  They work closely with the rest of the management team and line staff to ensure that the highest standards are upheld in the aforementioned areas. This position requires flexibility and a wide range of hospitality, service and business management acumen.  The GM actively embodies, inspires and teaches skills that will elevate The Cafes at MoMA, Art Food and, ultimately, Union Square Hospitality Group.

  • 3 + years of restaurant management experience
  • Excellent food and beverage knowledge

  • Attention to detail
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point)
  • Understanding of restaurant POS systems


Education

  • Preferred Bachelor’s Degree or Certification in Hospitality-related field or equivalent expertise gained from time on the job.


Physical

  • Involves standing most of the time, time as well as climbing stairs repeatedly. Also involves repeated reaching with arms and hands, carrying objects less than 20 lbs and bending and stooping.  May include possible lifting and moving objects of 20lbs or more.
