Union Square Hospitality Group is looking for our next 

Management Trainee

for our operation of The Modern and the Cafes at MoMA

 

The goal of the Art Food Management Training program is to place Hospitality School graduates in Assistant Manager Roles within Art Food, which encompasses The Modern and the Cafes at MoMA. Over the course of 12 months, Management Trainees will be exposed to multiple aspects of the business and Union Square Hospitality Group, giving them the tools to solidify their foundation and grow into leadership positions within USHG.

Management trainees will spend 6 months in each business of Art Food, Cafes at MoMA and The Modern. They will work very closely with the General Managers of each business and by the end of the year, will be able to effectively, open, close and manage the daily operations of both The Cafes at MoMA and The Modern. 

Some of the tasks of an Assistant Manager include but are not limited to:

  • Interact with guests regularly while managing service in the restaurants
  • Assisting to reconcile and complete payroll weekly
  • Prepare the cash drawers where necessary in both businesses for cash revenue centers
  • Attend weekly Management Meetings
  • Work with the Executive Chefs in both businesses to keep menu changes and descriptions up to date
  • Create New Hire Training binders for new members of our teams
  • Assist in creating staff schedules.
  • Learn how to properly operate our POS systems and other operating systems.


In addition to their Salaried Assistant Manager role at Art Food, Management Trainees will be able to partake in developmental trails, classes and opportunities offered throughout Union Square Hospitality Group. 





Skills/Requirements

Preferred Bachelor’s Degree or Certification in Hospitality-related field or equivalent expertise gained from time in a front-of-house position in a fine dining restaurant

Previous experience working or interning with a fine dining restaurant or luxury hotel brand

Excellent food and beverage knowledge

Initiative & follow through

Excellent verbal & written communication

Willingness to learn and get your hands dirty

Understanding of Microsoft Office
