Position Overview
The Data Analyst role is responsible for gathering data and providing insights on usage patterns and product consumption trends within the Books business. The role works with the Books development team to extract usage data, consisting of millions of data interactions and usage records, and constructing meaningful and insightful reports and analysis on the titles that are accessed and used by the platform user base and customers. The role consolidates and reports statics on trending titles, the most popular content and constructs algorithms to project consumption patterns of content assets so that the product team can make informed decisions on products to add or to retire.
Position Responsibilities

Organizational Metrics and Reporting

Construct and maintain dashboard of key division statistics which include most popular titles, trending titles, distinct users, comparison of library vs. industry benchmarks such as Amazon, B&N and Inc. best seller lists

Analyze customer renewal and growth trends and provide associated reports

Data and Trend Analysis

Provide analysis of key usage trend as per content topic, book titles, content asset (e-books, summaries vs. audio books)

Provide recommendations to product team of titles/assets to retire or add based on utilization data

Provide detailed insight of usage patterns by publisher and imprint

Provide usage patterns by customer group and product collection

Perform analytics around key search terms and content areas the users are
searching for

Work with product marketing team to gather data from customer surveys and consolidate with other division reports

Ad-Hoc Analysis

Perform additional product, imprint and publisher analysis as assigned

Consolidate data and industry benchmarks from third-party sources and incorporate with division-level reporting
Desired Skills and Experience
-
3-5 years’ experience in data-intensive analysis within a metric-driven business

Proven mastery in business intelligence and analytics software such as MS Excel, MS Access, Tableau. Experience with SQL and other query languages preferred

Proven excellence in computational skills and mathematics

Proven excellence in written and verbal communication required

Highly organized and successful in managing multiple projects, setting aggressive deadline commitments and meeting them

Self-starter, team player and have the ability to lead and work with cross-functional teams

Ability to focus on detail while understanding how contributions align with the broader
product strategy
Education and Certifications
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
