Position Overview

Skillsoft is seeking a Director of Legal Services to lead the Legal team in Nashua, NH.  The Director of Legal Services will report to the Chief Financial Officer in support of the executive team, outside counsel, and in-house employees.

 

Position Responsibilities

  • Advise company on legal issues and risks as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Manage engagement of outside counsel and associated budgets.
  • Review and negotiation of vendor contracts, statements of work, nondisclosure agreements, and license agreements.
  • Assist with due diligence process for mergers and acquisitions.
  • Maintenance of company’s intellectual property portfolio.
  • Manage company insurance matters and annual renewal process. 
  • Assist courseware designers in regard to audio/image licenses and model releases.
  • Assist Marketing department as it relates to releases and legal concerns around marketing collateral.
  • Assist Sales teams and the Customer Contracts team with legal concerns regarding RFP requests, customer contract negotiations, export compliance, and data privacy matters.
  • Assist Developers with open source review.
  • Responsible for legal and regulatory compliance and associated internal policy training initiatives.
  • Manage company privacy policies and data privacy matters.
  • Litigation and dispute management.

  • Minimum of five years corporate legal experience preferred (law firm or in-house legal department).
  • Data privacy and export compliance experience preferred.
  • Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.

 

Education and Certification

J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school and admission to at least one state bar.
