Job Description

This position deals directly with the public in sales, queries and cash transactions. Selling bank products to customers and developing customer relationships with the bank.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities:

  1. Retain branch customers and increase the level of products used by these customers by delivering quality service within designated authority levels, i.e. greet customers with a smile, and appropriate use of handshakes, standing, and the customer’s name; process customer requests in a timely manner; acknowledge customer complaints and follow up to ensure resolution and customer satisfaction.
  2. Receives and processes customer transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, Treasury Tax and loan payments of all types; transfers amounts from customer accounts as directed.
  3. Maintain cash limits as required.
  4. Balances cash drawer and daily transactions, maintaining an appropriate balancing ratio.
  5. Posts transactions to customer accounts and maintains customer records.
  6. Open new deposit accounts for Business and Retail customers.
  7. Redeem cash items for deposit or cash.
  8. Promotes, refers, sells and cross-sells bank products and services, and appropriate deposit, trust, brokerage, insurance, and credit products and services.
  9. Solicit and generate new business via the telephone and outside customer calling efforts, i.e. cold calls, appreciation calls, and through other public relations media.
  10. Accept Loan and Credit Card Applications, in addition to handle customer inquiries.
  11. Is accountable for Bank Secrecy Act and Regulation Compliance procedures.
  12. Attend training sessions on new products, services and procedures.
  13. Combination and/or key control.
  14. Opening and processing night depository and ATM.
  15. Control of negotiable instruments.
  16. Internal audit of cash and negotiable instruments.
  17. Assist other tellers in balancing and other activities, such as performing transactions.
  18. Obtain and retain product knowledge, policies and procedures as well as learn about competitor bank products/services and advantages of Sunflower Bank.
  19. All other duties as assigned, i.e. typing, filing, computer input, answering telephone, etc.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Six months of similar or related cash handling and/or customer service experience preferred.
  • Basic math aptitude and proficiency and ten key calculator by touch.
  • Computer proficiency in a Windows environment and computer keyboard by touch.
  • Exceptional customer service orientation.
  • Good decision making skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal, telephone, and written communication skills.
  • Sales ability and persuasiveness.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills such as courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization, generally regarding product knowledge and giving and obtaining information, which may require knowledgeable discussion and the use of discretion.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
  • Must have a valid drivers license.
  • Must be bondable.
