Job Description

VISION AND MISSION STATEMENT
Motivated by Christ's love, this position plays a key role in promoting the wholistic ministry of Food for the Hungry (FH) through the framework of the organization’s vision, “God called and we responded until physical and spiritual hungers ended worldwide.”  In order to accomplish this vision, FH’s mission is to “walk with churches leaders and families in overcoming all forms of human poverty by living in healthy relationship with God and His creation.”

POSITION SUMMARY
The Visitor and Communications Relations Coordinator, under the direction of the Program Director, plans for and oversees all teams and visitors arriving in Haiti.  In addition, this person will also coordinate with all Programs in order to write impact stories, keep the Portal updated with Program information, and write internal updates on Program related activities to include, but not limited to:

  • Overall hospitality and care for teams and visitors in Haiti
  • Correspond with teams, FH global offices, and others as needed to ensure proper planning and preparation for a team’s arrival
  • Submission of budget, plan, and final report for each team    

Primarily he/she will be responsible for oversight of all teams/donor related activities.  The position will liaise closely with all Program Managers and report directly to the Program Director / CD (TBD).





Skills/Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Result #1 – Provide hospitality and comfort of teams visiting Haiti.

  1. Pick-up guests at airport and plan for proper accommodations;
  2. Present an overview of all programming currently ongoing in Haiti, debrief as needed and direct specific questions to assigned manager or coordinator;
  3. Coordinate closely with guesthouse staff, logistics, HR and any other pertinent parties to facilitate a smooth experience while in Haiti.

Key Result #2 -  Plan, Communicate, and Report essential teams and visitor information.

  1. Prepare a Teams Calendar with dates of potential visits, kept up-to-date and available to all Program Managers;
  2. Communicate regularly with FH Global offices, potential Team leaders, and/or interested Churches up to the point of their arrival and any necessary follow-up;
  3. Prepare a final report (including spending report, pictures and a narrative) after each Team, church, or visitor departs, to be submitted to Program Director;
  4. Create and maintain a database of visitors to FH Haiti and develop new leads as presented by FH Global offices;
  5. Work with the Program Managers and/or Coordinators to stay informed of activities planned, timeframes for implementing and follow-up with potential impact stories.

Key Result #3 – Communicate Internally.

  1. Maintain up-to-date, accurate, and pictorial information for FH Haiti on the Portal;
  2. Write impact stories as identified by department Managers to be submitted to Program Director for approval;
  3. Write a quarterly newsletter for FH Haiti.

Key Result #4 – Facilitate and Maintain Strategies for Sustainability.

  1. Help design tools and curricula to be used with Teams to facilitate their time in Haiti;
  2. Facilitate Community transformation through understanding and imparting to Teams how they fit into the strategy and overall plan for FH Haiti;
  3. Ensure a solid partnership with churches/teams and FH Haiti through communication and planning;
  4. Maintain other duties as assigned by Program Director.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE  

  • A completed University degree and one to two years cross-cultural experience; three years experience in a similar role; or a combination of education and experience
  • Management and leadership training preferred
  • Experience working with teams in a cross-cultural context and providing proper care
  • Experience in program coordination and operation.
  • Excellent Computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point)

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES   
This person will supervise visitors while they are in Haiti assuring proper care and safety.

LANGUAGE SKILLS   
Fluency in written and spoken English is required. Understanding of French and/or Creole is a plus.
