Job Description


The Computer Support Technician I will be actively engaged in the support and maintenance of Menard, Inc. computer equipment and systems.  As a team member in the IS Infrastructure department you will assist in troubleshooting, repairing, and preventative maintenance work on all Menard, Inc. computer equipment assets that support the operations of the company on a daily basis. 



* Computer Support:

  • Process site issue tickets
  • Repair defective computer equipment
  • Load and install software or computer peripherals
  • Perform site preventative maintenance on computer equipment and systems
  • Perform project work as assigned
  • Perform Maintenance Change Request (MCR) work as assigned


* Project Standards and Procedures:

  • Follow all Corporate Standards and IS Systems Standards to develop and support projects
  • Provide input to IS Standards if existing standards require modifications or changes
  • Constantly monitor work to ensure the highest level of quality


* Production Issues:

  • Identify problem trends pro-actively
  • Execute action plans
  • Follow established process for problem handling or resolution


* Security and Confidentiality:

  • Maintain information confidentiality and security
  • Protect and prevent unauthorized attempts to obtain corporate information
  • Report all unauthorized incidents to the management team


* Other:

  • Suggest and recommend better ways of improving the quality of work within a team
  • Other tasks as assigned by your CHS Team Leader or Manager

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a Computer Science, Computer Networking, Computer Programming or MIS related field


            Equivalent work experience

  • Industry standard certifications are a plus (Microsoft, CompTIA, etc.).
  • Experience with computer systems, computer equipment including peripherals, mobile technology, or network/client-server troubleshooting, installation, or maintenance.
  • Knowledge of all Windows Operating Systems, UNIX, LINUX, MAC, and various mobile operating systems.
  • Familiarity with imaging techniques and software
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting, robotics, PLC, fire alarm panels, IP cameras, and fiber is a plus
  • Excellent design and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, as well as cooperate with others in team efforts
  • Must work within designated normal office hours assigned or required by work
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed
