Overall Job Objective:

To perform patrol, investigative, service and enforcement functions, to generally provide for the safety of the public, and to perform related duties as required.


Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Interacts and works with diverse groups of people within the company.

2. Uses problem solving skills, creativity, and innovative approaches to identify concerns, present options of courses of action, identify resources, plan for implementation of desired changes, and evaluate success.

This includes the following:

Obtains information and increases knowledge of persons and conditions within an assigned area.
Identifies the causes of crime within an assigned area.
Work to identify and analyze crime and other problems within an assigned area and designs strategies to address these problems.
Anticipates crime trends and makes plans to break negative patterns before they become established.

4. Coordinates information and resources among other company employees, public and police agencies, and citizens regarding crime problems and solutions.

This includes the following:

Works with other department employees as well as public and private agencies in designing and implementing problem-solving strategies.
Locates and organizes resources needed to implement strategies.
Shares information with other employees regarding crime problems and solutions.

5. Reads and applies company policies, rules, regulations, instructions, laws and ordinances, and general literature pertaining to policing.

6. Analyzes and interprets legal codes and criminal evidence.

7. Prepares written reports and memoranda summarizing information.

8. Uses computers for reports, communications, and information retrieval.

9. Testifies in court when needed.

10. Takes proper safety precautions, anticipates unsafe circumstances, and acts accordingly to prevent accidents. Responsible for safety of self, others, materials, property and equipment.

Skills/Requirements

Mental Demands:
• Ability to physically, mentally, and legally possess a weapon as part of their assigned job duties. This includes the ability to exercise sound/prudent judgment in potential use of force situations.
• Ability to effectively direct, coordinate, schedule and evaluate the work supporting a 24/7 work schedule to ensure the security of
property and personnel. This includes effectively interacting with other
security supervisors.
• Use of senses and reasoning to gather information and make independent determinations regarding ongoing security issues. This also involves the ability to think and respond appropriately when quick/decisive action is required in emergency/stressful situations.
• Ability to read, understand, communicate and abide by applicable company policies/procedures, State/Federal laws, ordinance, rules and regulations associated with assigned security duties.
• Ability to gather information, develop accurate written incident/ investigative reports and follow up on security incidents occurring at posts. This includes the ability to interview, obtain and accurately document statements from victims, witnesses, suspects, and/or confidential informers.

Physical Demands:
• Ability to screen incoming traffic to assess required authorization to access the installation. This includes reading license plates/decals, verifying picture identification, and observing occupants to detect actual or suspicious/dangerous actions, items or other violations that would ban entrance.
• Adequate hearing capabilities to decipher radio traffic, hear vehicle approaching, understand occupants’ responses, detect warning sounds/alarms, ascertain sound direction, and recognize related danger.
• Ability to execute a full range of physical motions to successfully complete defensive tactics.
• Ability to walk or stand for long periods of time while working at the guard shack, directing traffic and/or doing searches of vehicles, buildings and large outdoor areas.
• Ability to work outside in all types of weather to provide required gate access control/staffing.
• Manual Dexterity - Writing, light keyboarding and use of a personal
computer/software related to word processing.
