Job Description

It’s a great time to join JRC’s Systems Engineering and Integration Team! We are actively recruiting an Engineering Technician with Computer Aided Design (CAD) experience to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane and Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) with the management of the 3D CAD Model for a new project. The Engineering Technician will provide CAD Engineering services to the technical division of the SSP and will work closely with program management leaders and technical subject matter experts.  

As the Engineering Technician, you will... 

  • Manage the Master 3D Physical Model  
  • Create 2D drawings from 3D Physical Model 

  • Work with multiple brands of CAD software (Creo, Solid Edge, and AutoCAD) requiring the import and export non-native files 

  • Manage engineering drawings on a government database  

  • Communicate directly with stakeholders  

  • Sketch and propose concepts to engineers and program leaders 

  • Support the development of the Requirements for the new project 

  • Review and process engineering Requests for Information (RFIs)  

  • Review Design Change Requests 

  • Support the verification of technical design information 

  • Perform equipment checks to verify the installation meets requirements and to update drawings with the final “as built” configuration 

What you bring to the table... 

  • An associate's degree in design/CAD (or equivalent)  
  • 10+ years of related professional experience managing a 3D CAD Model for a project 

  • An active government security clearance at the SECRET level or above (or held an active clearance in the past 2 years) 

  • The ability to analyze processes and implement improvement strategies 

  • Able to act as the technical liaison between corporate, representative contractors, and the Department of Defense staff 

  • Experience in defining and validating system requirements 

  • Work in a team environment and the ability to work independently while prioritizing and supporting multiple tasks  

  • Excellent computer and technology skills 

  • Excellent 3D and 2D CAD skills 

  • High-quality communication and presentation dexterity
