Position: Program Chair for Hotel, Restaurant, & Tourism Management and Culinary Arts

Location: Athens Campus and Walton Campus

Department: Division of Business, Industry, & Technology

Reports to: Divisional Academic Dean

Salary/Benefits: Salary is commensurate with education and experience. State of Georgia benefits package.

Responsibilities:

• Under general supervision, develops program and course outlines, goals, and objectives.
• Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited Hotel, Restaurant, & Tourism Management and/or Culinary Arts courses.
• Develops syllabi to meet program and school objectives.
• Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives.
• Requests and maintains supplies and equipment, and prepares required budget requests.
• Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate.
• Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports.
• Attends staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences.
• Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area.
• Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students.
• Performs various duties as Program Chair.
• Responsible for management of all adjunct personnel and provides all information to complete various departmental and college reports, and assure all programmatic standards are met.
• Responsible for Administrative duties related to student advisement, advisory committee meetings, and program development.
• Assists with student recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.
• Conducts bi-annual industry advisory board meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Hospitality Management, Tourism Management, Culinary/Food/Nutrition or a related field from an accredited college or technical institution with (18) eighteen graduate hours in the hospitality discipline.
• Three (3) years' work experience in a position related to Hotel, Restaurant, & Tourism Management and/or Culinary Arts.
• Must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the courses assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Five (5) years of documented work experience in a position related to Hotel, Restaurant, & Tourism Management and/or Culinary Arts.
• ServSafe Manager certification.
• Previous teaching experience in a post-secondary environment.
• Previous online teaching or training experience, including the use of video capture tools.
