Job Description

Position Summary:

The Account Representative will support our Federal student loan and debt reconciliation contract by performing collection activities.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • The Account Representative will locate and communicate with consumers via the telephone and written notices to obtain repayment or to establish acceptable payment arrangements
  • Ensure accounts are worked within client standards and Federal regulations
  • Profile consumers and obtain financial information
  • Make required number of phone calls daily as determined by management
  • Update consumer demographic and financial information
  • Refer accounts for legal or administrative wage garnishment processes, as required by department and/or client requirements 
  • Perform skip tracing to locate consumers 
  • Effectively communicate with third parties to obtain location information
  • Profile accounts that are determined un-locatable or exhausted
  • Maintain file of accounts per client standards
  • Maintain clear, concise and accurate documentation of attempts and/or contacts made and received for accounts in accordance with Company and client specifications
  • Maintain current knowledge of and comply with all federal and state regulations governing collections including FDCPA, Privacy Act, FCRA, etc.
  • Attend training sessions as required
  • Other duties as assigned




Skills/Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • 6 months work experience
  • US Citizenship is required per the contract
  • Must be able obtain and retain a 5C Suitability clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree
  • An active 5C suitability clearance
  • 6 months collections industry experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Microsoft Office applications experience
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
