Job Description

Position Summary:

Central Research, Inc.  is currently seeking an experienced Senior Application Developer (Artiva) to work in a collections environment. The successful candidate will be an independent self-starter, with in-depth experience and ability to manage and work with large complex sets of data, modify Intersystems Cache Mumps, and develop and maintain complex reports.  This person will be responsible for administering and developing solutions in our Artiva collection software.

Reporting to the Vice President of Information Technology, the Senior Application Developer will function as a working developer/programmer responsible for creating functionality improvements, designing and introducing standardization of file in and file out processes. The development will also include, but is not limited to, scripting, UI windows, workflow and reporting both in and out of the system environment.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Provide programming support through the development of business systems automation and general collection system support.
  • Ensure that development life cycle activities are consistent with generally accepted best practices
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Artiva instances for various clients using Artiva’s proprietary coding languages and modules
  • Production of analytical reports, batch analysis, progress reports and generally supporting the needs of operations to maximize collection performance
  • Develop, implement and maintain reporting solutions using our proprietary Reporting System which is built on ASP.NET(C#) and SQL Server 2014, but may also use Artiva Reports or Crystal Reports
  • Documenting as-is and to-be process and data flows
  • Develop and implement workflow tactics
  • Maintain file processing logs
  • Communicate using flow charts and other technical support documents
  • Create and maintain client EDI interfaces
  • Progress towards creating and maintaining business automation systems
  • Work effectively with operations and IT to ensure delivery and releases are done with quality, follow release policies, and comply with aspects of PCI and FISMA controls
  • Develop, implement, and maintain file processing and database jobs using SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT)
  • Provide senior level development support and mentoring for application administrators
  • Perform daily imports and exports of data from applications systems. Validate data and check for errors on imports and exports by working the exception reports
  • Perform data audits
  • Obtain data from DMCS and map to the application system
  • Isolate and resolve application anomalies using systems analysis techniques and procedures.  For example, investigate and correct balance and payment errors





Skills/Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 6 years software development experience with at least 2 years at senior level 
  • Must be able to obtain and retain a 6C clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Artiva or other collection software experience
  • Collection industry experience, specifically understanding rehabilitation and administrative wage garnishment (AWG) process
  • Experience with the Department of Education

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Artiva/Cache/Mumps, SSDT, and Visual Studio/SQL Server Reporting (RDLC)
  • Proven ability to communicate between the business and technical teams as well as resolving and/or escalating problems as they arise
  • Ability to prioritize multiple requests and escalate conflicting priorities
  • Partner with business units to create, modify and maintain workflows and other processes that enhance the Company’s business practices
  • Perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) on letters, forms, workflow and production jobs ensuring Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliance and business requirements are met
  • Strong knowledge of PCI, FISMA and ATO processes
  • Ability to run user-based requirements sessions such as JAD sessions
  • Manage vendor relationships ensuring data is produced and delivered on a timely basis. Achieve operational objectives by providing information and recommendations to strategic plans; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change
  • Design technical solutions for interfaces between Client system and Artiva system
  • Full life cycle application development, including designing, coding, debugging and documentation
  • Gather requirements and build functional specifications for project requests
  • Perform, maintain and document solutions pertaining to Artiva and process excellence
  • Ability and willingness to manage small teams and projects where development and programming are the core focus
  • Partner with vendors and clients to manage the delivery and usage of supported products
  • Proficient with using Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent aptitude for learning new software products
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work in a self-directed manner
  • Ability to work with all staff and management
  • Must have strong oral and written skills; speak fluent English

Analytical

  • Intensive analytical skills necessary to comprehend real time production application performance along with maintaining best practices of application functionality
  • Intersystems Cache/Ensemble/Mumps
  • Artiva Agency, Artiva Studio, Artiva Workstation, Chui, collections, MS Visual Studio
  • Business Solutions Power User skills in Excel and SQL Scripting, as well other tools such as SAS
  • Data Analytics skills and ability to relate and present ideas to enhance operational strategies
  • Experience with Automate or other Robotic Process Automation tools
