Job Description

Central Research, Inc. (CRI) is seeking a talented individual for a Vice President, Operations position, to manage large accounts and drive growth and pursue new opportunities; define and drive strategy, including resolution of strategic level problems. The individual will oversee operations and program and project finance. He/she will participate in establishing and implementing strategies, goals, and objectives. The ideal candidate will have previously served in program management. The successful candidate will be responsible for customer relationship management, revenue generation, business growth, and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Challenge and improve business performance by helping to identify emerging issues, derive solutions, and drive key initiatives
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for sales growth and margin expansion
  • Provide input to the COO and CFO in presenting operating results to both the senior management and business leadership team
  • Review proposed organizational changes and recruit the appropriate talent and skill sets necessary to grow the business
  • Supervise program managers and operations staff
  • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality
  • Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach; assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, and monitor and evaluate results
  • Maintain on-going communication with the COO, regarding operational and financial matters on assigned contracts
  • Develop an understanding of the business, identify ways to add value, and provide best practices and consultation
  • Identify, develop, and implement near-term and long-term business strategies
  • Track competitor developments and their impact on market share
  • Participate in business planning activities, to include weekly pipeline reviews, operating plan development, bid agenda development, opportunity collaboration sessions and gate reviews, black hat sessions, win theme and discriminator workshops, and proposal writing and reviews
  • Monitor the pipeline, establish business development priorities and recommend the allocation of resources
  • Develop and implement the operations’ strategy, based on market research and Corporate direction
  • Network with organizations with emerging technologies
  • Coordinate meetings with clients and teammates to develop market insight
  • Identify customer needs
  • Formulate and exercise marketing plans and programs, both short and long range to ensure achievement of financial objectives, and products and services innovation
  • Support and monitor bid and proposal budgets
  • Assist in the development of the planning, designing, and implementation of business plans





Skills/Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or equivalent relevant work experience
  • 10 years of operational management experience
  • 7 years supervising and leading teams or projects
  • PMP Certification
  • Must be able to obtain and retain a Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience managing a pipeline of opportunities with a value of $20 million or greater
  • MBA preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Leadership skills to develop, organize and execute significant capture activities
  • Understanding of Federal Government contracting policies and procedures
  • Proven access to key government customers and industry partners
  • Proven track record of successful capture and pipeline management across multiple federal agencies and program offices at a variety of acquisition sizes
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Excellent planning and organization, project management, and time management skills
  • Ability to design and communicate daily work flows
  • Must possess exemplary leadership skills
  • Ability to train and effectively motivate others
  • Microsoft Office applications experience; including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Experience using a customer relationship management tool to track opportunities and manage pipeline
  • Ability to perform independently with limited supervision and feedback
  • Working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)
  • Ability to work on extremely complex problems
