Job Description

Athens Technical College in Athens, Georgia seeks a Director of Business Industry and Leadership Training. The Director of Business Industry and Leadership Training is responsible to the Vice President for Economic Development Services for the service area-wide development of custom business, leadership and industry training. The Director manages online training programs, and continuing education courses, computer technology, supervisory development, soft skills, and other business and community needs. The Director develops and administers courses and programs that require customization; coordination of staff, contracted instructors, and related services; evaluation of outcomes; maintenance of cost effective operations; and for general marketing of college programs and services.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Develops business proposals for customized business and industry contract training in response to identified industry training or consulting needs that maximize the companies’ return on investment and ensure adequate operating margins to address college investments
  •  Assists in the design of short courses included but not limited to custom training, continuing education, and assessment programs
  •  Identifies and recruits qualified course instructors, also instructs courses as needed
  •  Coordinates part-time test proctor staff, including Work Keys and other standardized testing
  •  Coordinates and facilitates new and existing non-credit and continuing education training programs, workshops, etc, in response to the workforce development needs of area employers and the community, and develops marketing strategies and materials to market them to employers
  •  Utilizes graphic design skills to develop the print and online flipbook versions of the Division’s course catalog, as well as brochures and other marketing materials
  •  Other duties as assigned

Skills/Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university *and* Five (5) years of work related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree and experience in sales, or as a small business owner/ entrepreneur
  •  Experience directing the work of others and working cooperatively in a team environment to achieve common team goals
  •  Graphic design skills to develop marketing materials, including layout and Adobe software
  •  Ability to work and communicate with the general public, internal customers, and external customers to provide information and quality services and/or products targeted to meet customer needs and expectations
  •  Relevant certifications and/or experience with Six Sigma, Leadership, ProjectManagement, Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, leadership/management/supervisory skills, and/or a variety of continuing education or personal enrichment courses
