Job Description

Position Summary:

Central Research, Inc. (CRI) is actively seeking to hire a Security Manager to oversee physical and administrative safety and security functions.  The role will ensure compliance with federal and state government regulations and company policies and procedures.

The position will report to the Chief Human Resources Officer.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Responsible for site and public safety and security for CRI employees, facilities, and assets
  • Monitor access, security systems, and equipment; cameras, badges, etc.
  • Provide security and safety awareness training to employees
  • Act as onsite incident manager in the event of an emergency or disaster and ensure business continuity
  • Conduct safety drills
  • Responsible for processing, submitting and maintenance of employee security forms and documents for background checks or government clearances
  • Compile, interpret, screen, and review results of preliminary background checks to identify whether they contain derogatory information
  • Establish security policies and procedures and prepare reports
  • Perform investigations in partnership with HR, Legal and other departments as required for policy violations, misconduct, criminal activity, workplace threats and other potential risks to CRI and its employees
  • Escalate security alerts and notify appropriate government and state public safety authorities
  • Respond, investigate and report all information regarding theft, alarms, accidents, injuries and other incidents that may occur at CRI sites. Report security and safety issues to Chief Human Resources Officer and other executive leadership
  • Oversee and visit multiple CRI sites
  • Ensure all offices are in compliance with Corporate safety and security guidelines and policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned




Skills/Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field of study or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience
  • Minimum of 7 years of site security and public safety experience
  • Must be eligible to obtain and retain a Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possess and have ability to retain an active Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice
  • Successful completion of Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Expertise in security and experience leading, directing, overseeing physical security and public safety functions
  • Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) and Electronic Questionnaires for Investigation Processing (E-Quip)
  • Working knowledge of NISPOM
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks working with deadlines
  • Proficient with using MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience establishing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external customers and employees
  • Ability to work effectively across functional groups companywide
  • Ability to work independently, as well as the ability to work as a part of a team
  • Skilled with managing confidential information and using discretion
  • Ability to make independent judgments within federal and state regulations and Company policy and procedures

Other Information:

  • Travel may be required
  • May be required to work during off-hours, holidays, and on-call
