Contacts local business entities to foster new relationships
that lead to new business accounts and the origination of business/commercial
loans. Calls on prospects seeking
opportunities to expand the Credit Union’s membership base.
Retains and expands Credit Union’s existing business accounts
by calling on current business members to identify their current financial
needs and successfully cross-selling appropriate deposit and loan products and
services.
Builds relationships with members, non-members, realtors,
loan brokers and other commercial sources through networking opportunities.
Participates in member service area Chamber of Commerce’s’
activities and other Civic functions that enhance the reputation and mission of
the Credit Union.
Records daily interaction with potential and existing
business members and networking activities and submits activity reports as
requested.
Achieves individual production goals as established by
management and helps achieve the Credit Union’s monthly and annual production
goals.
Interviews commercial applicants to develop information
concerning their business needs, desire, abilities and earnings to determine
whether a loan may be an acceptable risk, based on the Credit Union’s
guidelines.
Takes commercial loan applications and compiles loan package
and facilitates the negotiation with applicant of the loan structure including
fees, loan repayment options and other credit terms as defined by Credit
Union’s guidelines.
Gathers and reviews the financial data of commercial loan
applicants and underwrites commercial loan applications as needed.
Approves/declines business/commercial loan request within
assigned lending authority and in accordance with the Credit Unions’ lending
guidelines. Recommends for approval/denial of credit request greater than
assigned lending authority to the Business Loan Committee
Maintains current knowledge of competitors’ deposit and loan
products, rates, fees and trends in their business/commercial activities.
Maintains and creates positive working relationship with
needed service providers to include but not limited to Attorney’s, Title
Companies, Correspondent Lenders, CUBG, SBA, CDC’s and others as needed.
Provides guidance and underwriting assistance to Business
Lenders as needed.
Communicates and assist as needed with the Credit Union
Collections department on loans that are not performing as agreed.
Conducts site visits as needed to assess the condition of
collateral being used for new and existing commercial loans.
Maintains awareness of economic and local market conditions
that effect segments of and the overall business environment.
Recommends changes to business products and services as
dictated by the local market.
Has an in depth knowledge of current regulatory requirements
and stays current with changes in the regulatory environment.
Ensures compliance in all Credit Union related duties.
Seeks knowledge of changes and developments in the Commercial
Lending arena and incorporates same as appropriate in daily activities.
Performs all other duties and activities as assigned.
Skills/Requirements
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or
business related field required.
Equivalent work experience will be considered.
Minimum of seven (7) years of commercial lending experience
required.
Strong relationship management and business development/sales
skills.
Thorough knowledge of credit and credit quality including
financial analysis abilities.
Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups in
managing member relationships.
Must be able to work independently and to organize and plan
schedule for optimal productivity and achieve production goals.
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the Credit Union’s
products and services in order to identify cross-selling opportunities which
benefit the member.
Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication
skills.
Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
