Athens Technical College in Athens, Georgia seeks an Adjunct Instructor for its Interior Design Program. The Interior Design Instructor is responsible for fulfilling non-administrative (teaching) duties at Athens Technical College main campus in Athens. The candidate will report to the Program Chair of Interior Design, which is aligned under the Business and Education Division. 

This position requires using appropriate teaching, testing, and grading techniques; demonstrating current knowledge of the subject area; using effective written and oral communication skills; maintaining educational records; using technology appropriate to the subject taught and evaluating students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives.  The instructor will assist with student retention and advisory committee meetings.  The instructor must be conversant with and committed to the objectives and aims of the Interior Design industry (for example, the National Council for Interior Design Qualifications (NCIDQ)) and the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). 

The successful applicant will be expected to implement course materials that support stated initiatives and use appropriate techniques to provide students with the knowledge needed to achieve the learning outcomes for each Interior Design course offered.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or related field; current work experience in the interior design business or closely related field three (3) within the past five (5) years; and display strong written and oral communication, organizational and interpersonal skills;

Available to teach starting Spring Semester 2019 (classes start January 7, 2019); proficiency using Microsoft Office, AutoCAD 2018, and SketchUp 2018.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Interior Design or related building arts field; college level teaching (including online/hybrid/ web enhanced) experience;  knowledge of establishing and evaluating student learning outcomes;  knowledge of or experience with the Blackboard learning management system and online instruction; and Proficiency using Revit and Adobe Suite.
