Job Description

Athens Technical College in Athens, GA seeks an Assistant Director of Registration and Records. The Assistant Director of Registration and Records oversees and manages processes linked to registration and graduation, the awarding of transfer credit, academic records management, FERPA compliance, and degree completion audits. The Assistant Director of Registration and Records reports to the Vice President of Student Affairs.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Establishes procedures in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and all other federal regulations regarding student records
  • Communicate timely and accurate information to faculty, staff, and students on registration processes and dates
  • Research and recommend action for records inquiries and complaints
  • Verifies completion requirements degree, diploma and certificate graduates
  • Facilitate beginning and end of semester processing
  • Plans and implements graduation exercises
  • Serves as MIS Data Contact for the college
  • Maintains student records and monitors access for compliance with federal and state laws
  • Evaluate transcripts for transfer students
  • Respond to subpoenas and court orders for information in a timely manner
  • Assist with the management of student e-mail accounts and student information system accounts
  • Manage off-site transcript request processes.
  • Provides student information system training to college personnel
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills/Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years’ experience in student affairs or a similar postsecondary environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Demonstrated team leadership skills
  • Ability to collaborate and build strong, effective working relationships across departments
  • A strong understanding of Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize while meeting deadlines
  • Knowledge and experience using Degree Works, Microsoft Office, and Banner student information systems
  • Knowledge of admissions, advisement, and registration and records procedures and systems.
