Job Description

Role Summary:  Manage, direct and supervise Quality Control Activities in order to ensure that the quality of incoming pipe and accessories, in process and finished products are shipped in compliance with Company, industry, customer, national and international standards and specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that products are inspected, tested, processed, and comply with U.S. Pipe requirements, customer requirements and national and international standards.
  • Supervise the activities of Quality Control Technicians as to ensure that standard working procedures are conducted in a manner that provides safe operation while maximizing quality and productivity.  Including Pipe Run Inspection, Physical Laboratory operations, post cement lining and painting inspections, packaging area inspections, finished goods inspection, and gauge accuracy.
  • Conduct Kronos Payroll each week.
  • Supervise the activities of Quality Lead Technicians.
  • Provide Relief and/or fill in to all Quality Jobs as necessary.
  • Conduct scrap reviews to determine if product can be reclaimed or reworked.
  • Communicate with department Supervisors and managers concerning quality and/or process issues.
  • Communication hand off as available with off shift Quality Supervisors.
  • Review product on the Pre Cement Lining staging yard for quality issues.  Identify and determine the disposition of the product.
  • Assist in the selection of Quality Control Technicians.
  • Train Quality Control Technicians to standard work, and application of forms, manufacturing references and data entry, e.g. touch screen applications.
  • Conduct safety meetings, training, and stand down safety meetings.
  • Complete necessary reports as required.
  • Conduct 30-60-90 day new hire evaluations.
  • Review applicable ISO documents for accuracy and current application.  Submit change requests or document revisions as necessary.
  • Work with management to evaluate customer complaints.  Might require travel to jobsites.
  • Performs other related duties as required.




Skills/Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must possess the ability to make crucial decisions related to quality, and plan and direct the work of the Quality Control workforce. 
  • Basic Computer skills in areas such as Microsoft Word and Excel and Outlook are preferred.

     

    Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant heavy industrial experience.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • The employee will be working in a heavy industrial environment exposing the employee to Foundry operations.  The employee will be exposed (80% of the time) to the following working conditions:  Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust. Fumes and Metallic Particles. 20% of the time will be office environment
  • The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time):  Standing, Walking, Balancing, Stooping, Kneeling, Reaching, and Talking, Seeing, Hearing and Sitting.  The majority of the actions will be walking and standing.
