Job Description

Athens Technical College in Athens, Georgia seeks a Vice President of Economic Development Services. The Vice President of Economic Development Services is responsible to the President for strengthening ties between the community and college by building alliances with businesses, industries, and community organizations. 

The Vice President of Economic Development Services will provide leadership to an economic development staff in the development of a service area-wide learning network that is easily accessible and adaptable to the changing business and industry environment of the college’s service delivery area.  Areas of responsibility include business and industry services and work-related continuing education.  Additionally, the Vice President provides leadership to two community campuses through Campus Managers and their staff.  The Vice President assists the campuses in attaining academic enrollment goals, satisfying community training needs and in growing and enhancing the college presence and stature in those communities.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Develop, promote, coordinate, and monitor all advanced technology training to address workforce training initiatives and corporate outsource training.
  • Establishes internal and external partnerships, including the creation of advisory committees to guide the development of policies, programs, and services to meet the college’s role in regional economic, workforce, and community development activities.
  • Represents the college to external groups concerning college activities related to workforce training and economic development initiatives.
  • Maintains the ACT Work Keys Service Center and insures compliance with ACT testing and Security procedures.
  • Maintains liaison with the Governor's Office of Workforce Development and TCSG in the implementation and execution of the Community Programs and other Governor directed programs.
  • Oversees workforce programs such as ManufactuREADY through a partnership with the Northeast Georgia Regional Commission.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills/Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and seven (7) years of work related experience or Master’s degree and three (3) years of work related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum qualifications plus specific experience in economic development, post-secondary education, and industry related programs.
