Job Description

Athens Technical College in Athens, Georgia seeks a full-time Program Chair to teach courses in Industrial Systems Technology at the Elbert County Campus. The Program Chair is responsible to the Division Dean for fulfilling both administrative and teaching responsibilities. The successful applicant will have the content knowledge and teaching skills needed to help students achieve the learning outcomes for each of the Industrial Systems Technology courses.  This position reports to the Dean of the Technology, Engineering and Manufacturing Division. 

Duties of a Program Chair include using discipline appropriate teaching and assessment techniques in classroom, laboratory, and online settings; maintaining appropriate student records; advising students regarding program requirements and career goals; participating in college recruitment and retention efforts; and fulfilling both administrative and teaching responsibilities. .

Skills/Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited public or private institution in industrial systems or a related field; considerable recent (at least three years within the last seven) work experience in the Industrial Systems Technology field; excellent written and verbal communication skills; and appropriate professional credentials for or related to the field of Industrial Systems Technology.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in engineering technology or education with an Industrial Systems Technology background; experience with online learning environments; prior experience teaching online classes; knowledge of Banner; experience advising students; experience teaching at the postsecondary level using industrial trainers; and active participation in appropriate professional and/or occupational organizations.
