Job Description

Athens Technical College in Athens, Georgia seeks an Adjunct Instructor to teach courses in Engineering Technology at all Athens Technical College Campuses for the 2018 Fall Semester. The Adjunct Instructor will report to the Dean of the Technology, Engineering and Manufacturing Division (TEM).

The successful applicant will be expected to develop and implement course materials related to Engineering Technology and will teach a course in the Fall semester of 2018.  The applicant will use appropriate practical techniques to provide students with the knowledge needed to achieve the learning outcomes for the course offered.

Duties of the instructor may include developing course syllabi and related coursework for the Engineering Technology program, using discipline appropriate teaching and assessment techniques in classroom, laboratory, and online settings; maintaining student records; and assisting the program chair as needed.

Skills/Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field in Engineering. 
  • Willingness to teach at all Athens Technical College Campuses including Career Academies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Work experience in  the process, manufacturing or consulting industries of engineering or engineering technology
  • Knowledge of industrial machinery, mechanical equipment, assembly lines, production processes, motor controls, electrical systems, and instrumentation
  • Competency and comprehensive understanding of manufacturing processes, statics, strength of materials, kinematics, dynamics, mechanical engineering design, hydraulics, pneumatics, and computer aided drafting
  • College-level teaching (including online/hybrid/web enhanced) and student advising experience
  • Knowledge of establishing and evaluating student learning outcomes
  • Knowledge of or experience with the BLACKBOARD learning management system and online instruction
  • Display strong written and oral communication, organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
