The PowerBI Developer is responsible for providing critical actionable information to different lines of business in the entire corporation in the form of real-time and/or snapshot reports, dashboards and KPIs. As a BI developer your work will consist of bringing together actionable and accurate data from different data sources and organizing it so that the business users can get relevant and consistent financial and management information from all business areas.  Most of the time you will need to participate in the process of finding the right data form the right data source and applying the correct transformation, correction and interpretation rules to successfully to feed it in as an actionable data source in to the BI process.                   

 

Job Description:

As a BI developer you will be responsible for integrating disparate data in to our Common Data Layer, our “Enterprise Data Views”, building reports and visualizations on top of this and facilitating actionable deep operational and strategic decision making by appropriate business unit and executives. Important tasks are: 

  • Identifying and understanding requirements from the business side
  • Participating in an interactive design process that includes rapid prototyping
  • Integrating data from different sources, such as Salesforce, Google Analytics, SQL Server, IIS logs, etc.
  • Proactively organizing and visualizing data and identifying quality problems
  • Designing maintainable technical solutions
  • Actively assisting in analysis and design of new data sources
  • Finding good, frugal and ROI driven solutions to complex technical issues (mostly linked to query performance problems and data inaccuracies)
  • Complying with company standards and procedures
  • Keeping informed of new technological possibilities
  • Ensuring that data and information security is maintained in an appropriate manner
  • Actively contributing to development of new standards and procedures
  • Actively gaining and sharing knowledge and experience in business processes and how they relate to data flows
  • Managing deliverables, projects status and blockers in a successful and transparent fashion

Required Qualifications:

  • Good technical and theoretical education in software development
  • Experience in BI solutions development, especially significant hands-on experience with advanced PowerBI usage
  • Ability to work in teams and desire to sharing knowledge with others
  • Good technical programming, scripting and data transformation skills
  • Ability to model and communicate solutions to both technical and business side
  • Interest in and ability to acquire business knowledge
  • Deep knowledge and experience in data modeling, normalizing and denormalizing data
  • Good design and estimation skills
  • Experience of iterative development methodologies and thriving to work in this way.Agile development exposure.
  • Ability to manage expectations of the deliverables both within the project and the business side

Key Technologies:

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2014 and SQL Server 2016
  • ETL tools like SSIS
  • Microsoft's analysis and reporting tools SSAS, SSRS
  • Microsoft Office (Excel)
  • PowerBI, PowerPivot and familiarity with converting excel based static dashboards to PowerBI
  • SharePoint (BI part of the tool)
