Job Description

St. John's Episcopal Hospital is recruiting for an ASSISTANT NURSE MANAGER, for Surgical Care Unit. This is a non-union management position. 75 Hours Biweekly - M-F 7AM-3:30PM. Excellent benefits, PTO, Tuition Reimbursement and403B.

The Assistant Nurse Manager maintains shift accountability for the coordination and facilitation of the delivery of quality patient care on the Unit. He/she directs staff in Performance Improvement activities that improve patient outcomes, patient satisfaction and enhances organizational efficiency. In addition, will utilize knowledge and expertise in participation of case management to provide comprehensive, coordinated, seamless care to patients and their significant others.

 

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • In collaboration  with the NM and the Clinical Educator assesses the educational needs of the care team members and arranges for learning experiences.
  • Provides timely performance appraisals according to Human Resources schedules and policies
  • Supports high but attainable standards for performance and inspires staff towards higher levels of achievement.
  • Acts as mediator when nursing team members are unable to resolve conflict




Skills/Requirements
  • Current NYS RN License
  • BSN/BA required, Masters in Business, Health or Allied Field preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in health care management field
  • Experience in team based, collective bargaining environment desirable. Basic knowledge of regulatory agency requirements, establishment of staffing patterns and creation of staffing schedules required. Initiative, vision, creativity and flexibility a must.
  • Must demonstrate a high degree of independent access to confidential patient and organization information and must be able to handle such information appropriately.
