As part of the Maintenance team, the Maintenance Technician Trainee will learn to inspect, replace, repair, install, adjust and maintain all mechanical equipment in the plant.
The Maintenance Technician Trainee is expected to master the following in order to advance to Maintenance Technician:
Receives instructions or participates in team decisions regarding scheduled and emergency repairs, installation and inspection tasks.
Inspects plant equipment for defects such as misalignment, wear, insufficient lubrication, etc. and repairs such defects.
Determines, with or without team input, the best way to effect repairs so as to minimize production interruptions.
Dismantles, cleans, repairs, replaces, installs, maintains, assembles, adjusts and lubricates plant mechanical equipment and machinery.
Assembles and aligns gears, bearings and shafts; babbitts and scrapes bearings as required.
Operates machine tools (drill press, pipe threaders, etc.) and erects scaffolds and performs simple rigging as required.
Sets up, changes and adjusts equipment as required.
Performs preventive maintenance tasks so as to maximize effectiveness of plant equipment.
Keeps work area in a neat and orderly condition and performs all work in a safe and efficient manner
Skills/Requirements
High School diploma or G.E.D.
Ability to work effectively as part of a maintenance team.
