POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Registered Nurse in this area assumes the responsibility of team leader utilizing the nursing process in planning, executing, and evaluating the nursing care given to the surgical patient during the intra-operative period.  The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span to identify patient and family requirements relative to age specific needs.  Under the direction of the department supervisor, the Operating Room nurse is responsible for direct patient care in both the scrub and circulating nurse roles.  The Operating Room nurse is also responsible for providing professional nursing care within other assigned units of the Surgery Center as needed.

Hours: Monday thru Friday Days- No Holidays, No Weekend, No Call!

Education and Experience Requirements:

EDUCATION:
Required:· Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
Preferred· Completion of or actively pursuing a BSN degree.

EXPERIENCE:
Preferred: One year of experience in ambulatory surgery center environment.  One year of OR experience; Directs and delivers comprehensive nursing care to operative patients in a safe and proficient manner.

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:
Required:

· Current license by the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners.
· Current certification as BLS Healthcare Provider and ACLS provider.  Must the issued through the American Heart Association.
