Job Description

The Loan Operations Team Lead will lead the workflow and process for a team of post-closing specialists allocated to a specific channel of business or market, manage a pipeline of loans, and be responsible for tasks associated with the loan process after booking/funding until the loan is paid-off or returned to the credit request/underwriting stage. The loan operations team lead will work with third-parties, lending teams, and other loan operations staff to validate the loan file for completeness and accuracy, perfect liens, monitor collateral, and provide other guidance and support.
 





Skills/Requirements
  • Manages the workflow and process for a team of post-closing specialists
  • Reviews and validates work performed by other post-closing specialists
  • Coordinates and provides training and support to post-closing specialists
  • Identifies and recommends process and procedural improvements
  • Files liens, lien continuations, and otherwise ensure the bank’s security interest in collateral is properly perfected; prepares and files/records lien releases for terminated collateral
  • Reviews records related to the complex loan files for completeness and accuracy, adds records to the electronic record repository as needed, identifies and prepares critical original documentation for preservation in the loan vault
  • Prepares, maintains and updates internal tracking systems used by lending teams and other loan operations departments
  • Works with third-party vendors and internal customers to obtain post-closing documentation (such as insurance, taxes, trailing documents, etc.), and clear other file and loan-related exceptions
  • Verifies and updates financial covenant tracking system
  • Validates and updates system data related to on-going collateral maintenance and other loan-related information
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Ability to lead and manage a process workflow, including directing the work priorities of other team members
  • Thorough understanding of lending practices and loan documentation including requirements related to perfection of the organization’s security interests
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven experience working in a fast paced, high volume, customer-centric environment
  • Ability to work both independently as self-starter and a team environment
  • Effective time management and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
  • Proficient in the use of technology including loan origination and core banking systems

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum five (5) to seven (7) years of banking or financial services industry experience required or Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree with equivalent experience
  • Lending experience required
  • Experience leading a team and/or process preferred

Computer and Software Skills:

  • Proficient with using Microsoft Office products
  • Familiar with Google-based products (Gmail, Google Drive, etc.) preferred
  • Experience with Salesforce, nCino, or FIS Bankway is a plus
