Job Description

Athens Technical College in Elberton, GA seeks a full- time Facilities Maintenance Supervisor for its Elbert County Campus. The Facilities Maintenance Supervisor is immediately responsible to the Executive Director of Facilities and is responsible for creating and maintaining a high performance work environment and for providing efficient, high quality maintenance and custodial services

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Encourage and facilitate cooperation, pride, trust, and group identity; foster commitment and team spirit; work cooperatively with others to achieve goals.
  • Supervise building security including the opening and closing of buildings.
  • Respond promptly to security alarms and other emergencies.
  • Ensure that the fire alarm and sprinkler systems and the fire extinguishers are inspected annually.
  • Personally ensure all safety systems are tested and operating properly.  Provide written monthly reports to the Facilities Director on the first of every month.
  • Provide written monthly maintenance activity reports to the Facilities Director on the first of every month.
  • Supervise the maintenance and the security of all state vehicles.
  • Ensure vehicles are maintained, gasses, and in proper operating condition.  Submit odometer readings to the Facilities Director on the first of every month.
  • Establish and maintain folders on every vehicle for the purpose of recording monthly odometer readings, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, and receipts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills/Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
Two (2) years’ work experience in a related field or a maintenance environment. Knowledge of maintenance, repair, welding, HVAC, carpentry, electricity, plumbing, tools, equipment, materials, and facility repairs. Working skill in diagnosing maintenance and repair problems; working ability to repair facilities mechanical equipment systems; to read, interpret and apply construction plans, specifications and blueprints; to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to lift, push, and carry heavy items. Must have valid Georgia driver's license or work permit. 

Preferred Qualifications

Diploma or certification in related fields.
