Job Description

The Mission:   Lighthouse Academies, New York seeks a mission-driven, results-oriented, emerging leader to serve as our Associate Director of Data Management and Analytics. The Associate Director of Data will be a key team member of the LHA NY regional leadership team, a robust network of schools located in the Bronx, New York.  Lighthouse Academies, New York believes that data should be the driving force of all strategic planning and decision-making within our schools; we know that data impacts every aspect of our instructional and operational programs, including but not limited to classroom instruction, budget creation and maintenance, staffing, and so much more.  We currently collect a large sum of data on a regular basis: scholar demographic info, formative academic assessment data from external platforms, summative academic data from NWEA MAP and New York State Exams, operational and financial metrics and beyond. As a network, our goal is to organize this data into useful tools for all key stakeholders within the organization, most notably school leaders, the Board of Trustees, teachers, and our national Lighthouse Academies team, amongst others. The person in this role will work closely with our Regional Executive Director, Director, Regional Operations, and our School Leaders to design, implement and oversee data processes and tools that allow everyone in the organization to respond efficiently, as well as effectively to the most important data available to them. We are looking for a pioneer in this space: an individual who is excited to imagine what is possible to achieve with our data systems, and the creative drive and ingenuity to make it happen.

Responsibilities:  

  • Research, design, build and maintain distinct data dashboards for use by LHA NY regional team members, school leaders, the Board of Trustees, and other key team members

  • Establish and oversee data entry systems and standards to ensure fidelity and data integrity across network schools

  • Oversee the administration of the schools’ data platforms, ensuring accurate rosters, timely data import and export, smooth user-management and custom report creation

  • Provide hands-on training and real-time support to staff on data platform management and analytical techniques

  • Build out and maintain regular data calendars, capturing key reporting deadlines and necessary lead time

  • Generate summative reports in Excel or other data tools from raw academic as well as non-academic data (i.e. attendance, demographics, enrollment, etc.)

  • Independently identify patterns and trends in academic data, and report those findings to the leadership team for further analysis and resource (re)allocation

  • Summarize, analyze and report on school-wide academic progress to all relevant stakeholders

  • Ensure all data is archived and easily accessible

  • Build relationships with other data professionals and research best practices in the field  

  • Complete additional special projects as assigned; may include operations, blended learning and general technology tasks

Skills/Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Master’s degree required

  • Two years successfully serving in a position in an academic (or other non-profit) institution

  • A high comfort with Microsoft Excel and other data management platforms; experience with SQL database management and Tableau a plus
