ESSENTIAL QUALITIES A BLCS Community Associate is more than an operational assistant. Their work helps to transform children’s lives by assisting in the creation of opportunities for a brighter future. We are seeking a Community Associate who will make the commitment to conduct this work with determination, integrity and purpose, embodying these essential qualities: Strong collaborative and communication skills Assist Deans and school staff as needed with non-instructional duties Greet parents and other school visitors in-person with strong customer service skills Provide supervision to children during lunch, recess, transition, bathroom trips, arrival and dismissal and other times, as requested Monitoring of hallways Completes other work as may be requested Work as a team member EXAMPLES OF WORK The Community Associate is a key member of BLCS family. Working close with the schools' Deans and focusing on the safety and care of all scholars, the Community Associate is responsible for the execution of day-to-day operations and well-being of the school, including supervising scholars in the hallways, performing tasks in various areas of the school, and much more. The Communtiy Associate must be a creative thinker who is able to problem-solve and work well with others. This person must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, where each day could present new challenges related to the essential functions below: Communicates regularly with the schools' Deans and parents as needed Collaborates regularly with other Community Associates and school staff members Enters information into student information systems such as breakfast and/or lunch counts Participates in meetings as requested Schedules and provides logistical support for meetings, events and school operations as directed
Performs non-teaching duties such as lunch duty, recess, hall and bathroom supervision |

Skills/Requirements | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: High School Diploma or equivalent Experience: Experience in a school environment preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Working knowledge of schools; highly effective interpersonal, writing and speaking skills to provide customer service; experience using Microsoft Office software, and ability to effectively use word processing applications; working knowledge of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: PC, copier, fax machine, telephone, local network and Internet searches; and organizational skills required. |
