JOB DESCRIPTION
The Senior Electrical Engineer will work to provide support for existing products and fixtures consisting of digital and analog electronics as well as embedded systems and software support.Must be an aggressive self-starter, able to plan his or her own work and requires a minimum of supervision.Must work well independently as well as part of a focused, multi-disciplined development team. Must have strong PM skills and the ability to mentor and build a team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Acting as part of a team, participate in the development of electronic medical devices including system architecture and detailed circuit design / implementation and software for embedded systems.
Manage projects that consist of Troubleshoot and enhance embedded system
Revise / create schematics and PCB layouts
Fabricate prototypes with assistance from technical support team (Machine Shop, Technicians and Designers) and suppliers.
Test and troubleshoot prototype circuits and designs to the component level.
Perform and document detailed failure analysis.
Design and troubleshoot micro-controllers systems which includes software and software tools
Understand test system – using tools like Labview, python or matlab
Work with internal and external manufacturing partners to ensure producible designs (DFx)
Support the development of test methods and conduct characterization of engineering prototypes.
Assist in writing test protocols and reports.
Provide status updates as required
Skills/Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Master’s degree preferred
Minimum of 5 years of related work experience desired, medical device or robotics experience preferred
Software development skills required – Knowledge of Real Time OS (VxWorks, QNX) and supporting programming languages such as C,C+,C# or Python
Integration of custom circuitry with embedded PC systems and subcomponents as well as DSP systems
Knowledge of PC Architectures and PC OS – LINUX
Hands-on electrical circuit design experience of analog, digital, and mixed signal systems.
Understanding of signal processing, sensors and motor driver systems using PWM controllers
Expertise with electrical design software tools (Schematic capture and PCB layout)
Must have expertise with applicable manufacturing processes such as PCB fabrication, assembly and test.
Familiar with project management terms and concepts
Ability to communicate ideas and information clearly, effectively and frequently (oral and written)
Execute tasks in a timely manner without direct supervision
Able to prioritize tasks
Must be proficient Microsoft Office Suite. Working knowledge of SAP desired.
Altium experience strongly preferred
